Advice and information on Gibraltar Shopping – from Gibraltar Flower Delivery to Gibraltar Postcards

Gibraltar shopping has many attractions – apart from the British brand names that the Expats and visitors love to shop for, we have no VAT (Value Added Tax) and therefore you can always pick up a bargain when it comes to your favourite ‘tipple’ and cigarettes. Perfumes, make-up, fine jewellery and porcelain, crystal or china are also a great buy in Gibraltar.

There are various designer clothing stores here too from BHS, Marks & Spencers, Next, Mothercare, Mango, Peacocks, Wallis, Evans, Adams (for kids) to name just a few to Tommy Hilfiger, Monsoon, Oasis, DC brands and much more.

Main Street Nearly all the shops here stay open through lunch and do not share the Siesta period that is enjoyed in Spain. The opening hours are usual 10am to 6pm, although some stores will stay open a bit later. On Saturday most shops will close at 1.30pm and all day on Sundays, with the exception of some of the tourist shops that will open (especially when a cruise ship is visiting). Morrisons supermarket is also open all day Saturday and most of Sunday.

You can enjoy Gibraltar shopping using your Euros, although Gibraltar’s currency is Pounds Sterling. Most shops will accept Euros, but they may not be able to give Euros back in change.

Gibraltar Shopping Areas

The Main Street is pedestrianised and the principal shopping area, running through the whole length of town. There are also several adjoining lanes to Main Street which have some ‘old world’ and quaint shops around – We love them as they have stood the test of time and compare nothing to the mass produced hyper-markets of modern day.

Autumn in Main Street Casemates Square

Casemates is right at the beginning of Main Street and is a lovely social square with many shops, bars and restaurants around the perimeter and within an old English style arcade (or mall). There is also a second floor of the Casemates gallery which takes you to the Fine Arts Gallery, Arts & Crafts work shop, Nature Shop and others.

The Gibraltar Crystal Factory and shop can also be found at Casemates and is quite a treat to watch how the glass is being blown into shape.

Ocean Village

Ocean Village is the latest development in Gibraltar with several shops, bars and restaurants to choose from. This Marina complex is lined with luxury yachts and plenty of places to eat, drink and party!! The Gala Casino complex is impressive and open 24 hours; all in all Ocean Village is a great place to visit, chill out and have fun. Some of the shops you can find are After Shock, Spirit, Signature and Farrington Art Gallery to name a few.
